Hades
Hades was the third brother of Zeus and Poseidon. While Zeus got the sky, Poseidon got the ocean and the water, Hades had to take the last and worst one. Hades became the ruler of the Underworld, god of the dead and death. Also he was the god of the hidden wealth that resides under the earth. Hades was known as a very greedy and cruel god. He was always trying to increase his the dead and his followers. But he was the god of wealth due to all the precious metals under the earth. Such as gold, diamonds, and other gems and jewels. Hades would reside in the underworld and would hardly ever leave. Hades married Persephone (she was the daughter of Demeter), which whom Hades had abducted. After Demeter learned that her daughter was abducted she went into a tantrum which she would change the weather and that created the season. But Hades had to let Persephone return but she had to return to him every year.
Poseidon
Poseidon, ruler of the sea and water, he was also known and the earthshaker because he could control earthquakes. Poseidon was the brother to Zeus and when the three brothers divided up the Creations Zeus got the sky, Poseidon got the sea and water, and Hades got the underworld. Poseidon married Amphitrite she was the granddaughter of the ocean Titan Oceanus, but like his brother Zeus he had many other affairs with different women and had a lot of off-springs. He was also the creator of horses. It was said that made horses of of the sea foam. Poseidon symbol and his weapon was the trident. A spear with three spikes at the tip. He was second in power only to Zeus from all the gods. It was said that Poseidon was greedy and always tried to steal the cities from the other gods. Poseidon was relied on to a safe voyage at sea from sailors.
Zeus
Zeus was the main Olympian god. It all started when his father Cronus would eat his off-spring so that they would not grow older and stronger than him and take over. So after Cronus ate his off-spring and Zeus was born, Rhea his mother did not like the fact that Cronus at his kids so she go fed up with it and tricked him to thinking Zeus was a rock and instead of eating Zeus he ate the rock instead. So what Cronus has feared had happened Zeus grew up and killed his father and being that they were immortal were living in his stomach without being digested. So with his brothers and sisters freed they retaliated against all the Titans and defeated them and locked them away in Tartarus the deepest and darkest part of the underworld.
So after Zeus and the other gods defeated the Titans they moved to Mount Olympus. That is how they got their names as The Olympian Gods. Zeus was the god of the sky and weather. He married his sister Hera and together had other gods. But Zeus had many different mates and many off-spring. Such as the most popular hero Heracles. Zeus symbol was the Thunderbolt and that was also his weapon. His bird was the eagle, his tree was the oak tree. Zeus was seen as the god of mercy and justice, the protector of weak and the punisher of the wicked.

The Olympian Gods
In Greek mythology there are a lot of category's that the Greeks would have. There really isn't a main category that they would look at because all mythology played a major role in Greek. There were the main gods they were referred as The Olympian Gods. It was said that the gods lived up on the mountain of Olympus. In the Olympian Gods they had the main three which was Zeus, Poseidon, and Hades. These three gods were brothers and divided up the land for each of them. Zeus got the air, Poseidon got water, and Hades got the underworld. Other than the main three gods there was also Hestia, Hera, Ares, Athena, Apollo, Aphrodite, Hermes, Artemis, and Hephaestus. Those were the Olympian Gods.
Also below the Olympian Gods, Greeks believed in the other gods. I really don't know how the Greeks classified the category between the Olympian Gods and the other gods. I think they differ because the other gods were like the off-spring of the Olympian Gods. That is how I think they separated them. But under this category there was Demeter, Persephone, Dionysus, Pan, The Muses, The Fates, and others. The Greeks also have Hero's. Hero's is when one of the Olympian Gods have off-spring with mortals. The most famous and well known hero was Heracles he was the son of Zeus. He was well known for his incredible strength. He was the only hero to have gained to honor to become a god after he died. But other hero's were Perseus, Theseus, Achilles, Odysseus, and others.
